Batalla Chess (Battle Chess)
Ever wanted to watch a wooden pawn get absolutely dunked on by a knight in slow-motion single combat, instead of the piece just politely vanishing like in every other chess game since 1475? Congratulations, you can now lose to a bishop in 3D. Enjoy the crunch of procedurally synthesised sword-on-shield audio, the quiet dread of watching your queen get curb-stomped by a rook with main character energy, and the special thrill of losing to an AI that was built by the same people who forgot to export a shell variable for three deployments in a row.
A three.js remake of the animated-chess idea: a full chess engine, a 3D board of warrior figures, and a capture that is settled in single combat rather than by quietly removing a piece.
The game opens on a portal screen — sign in, or enlist a new champion — and from the lobby you choose an opponent, a difficulty and a side before marching to the board.
